A new 'home' for 7th Ballarat Scout Group

We are excited to announce that on Saturday (May 12) we acquired a Scout hall in Sebastopol (a suburb of Ballarat).  The local Polish Association had decided after more than 40 years, first fundraising for and then using the hall they built for their community, that the time had come to focus their efforts in new directions.  We are very grateful to them as now 7th Ballarat Scout Group – having gone many years without a ‘home’ and having endured several false starts at finding a suitable premises – will soon move into this readymade Scout hall (trust me – it looks just like many of our other halls!).   7th Ballarat have contributed their hall fund to the project and will further contribute into the future – more importantly, they can now grow and provide great programs for the local community of Sebastopol.

We are also grateful to the local Ballarat District team who, with the help of the Region Commissioner, brought the opportunity forward and particularly thankful to the Branch Executive Committee who supported the acquisition at short notice.  Along with new Groups recently announced for Apollo Bay and the re-opening of the Kyneton and 1st Garfield Scout Groups, it’s wonderful to see Scouting growing and the benefits of great programs available to more and more local communities!  Well done to all those involved with each of these new and revitalised Groups.
