Scout ID FAQs

Why has Scouts Victoria implemented membership cards?

Scouts Victoria has implemented a membership card as the State Youth Council, who represent the broader youth member base, determined that there was a desire amongst our youth members for one. We already know there are plenty of benefits from being involved in Scouting and when the opportunity came about to offer you even more, we couldn’t say no!

I have an issue with my Scout ID card. What can I do?

Issues with Scout Id cards

  • Have you not received your Scout ID card? If you are yet to receive your Scout ID card, please email scoutid@scoutsvictoria.com.au.

  • Is one of the following printed on your card incorrectly?
    • Name*
    • Member number
    • Member since (year)**
  1. Please read the below notes
  2. Please discuss with your Group Leader as the information which appears on your card was taken direct from the details in your membership record on our Extranet system and if wrong, will need to be corrected there first.
  3. After the above, if you would like to make a request for a card to be reprinted with alternate details, please email scoutid@scoutsvictoria.com.au.

*Please note that for name changes, only the Scouts Victoria Membership Support Team can update this information and evidence will be required (eg certified Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate). Your Group Leader can assist in facilitating this process.

**Please note that the registration year that appears on each card is based on your most recent Victorian registration date, not your original registration year if you have left and then returned to Scouting one or more times. If your time as a youth member pre-dates Extranet, then it is likely that your member since year will reflect your Leader service only.

  • Replacement cards: We only have a limited supply of cards for replacement purposes so please look around carefully before you make a request.  To request a replacement card please email scoutID@scoutsvictoria.com.au with the following information:

    • Name and membership number
    • Current postal address
    • Reason for replacement

  • Have you received someone else's Scout ID card? Please email scoutid@scoutsvictoria.com.au and return the card to 152 Forster Road, Mt Waverley VIC 3149. Please include your details when sending back the card so we know where it has come from.

Why does my Scout ID have Snowgum branding on the back?

We were very lucky to have Snowgum sponsor the production of the card. Snowgum offer great deals to Scouting members and are a supplier of a huge range of outdoor gear, perfect for Scouting activities.

What other member offers will be available?

We are currently working on adding more offers to the card. Keep an eye on the Scout ID Offers & Deals page, our weekly enews to Leaders ‘Be Informed’ and the Scouts Victoria Facebook Page for updates on more offers being added.

How long do these cards last for and what happens after they expire?

Our new card, pictured below is in the process of being distributed as at February 2 2019.

The original Scout ID card pictured here was valid until December 31 2018.

I don’t want my child/ren to have a membership card

We appreciate that it is a parent’s decision to withhold the card. It is not a requirement for the card to be presented as part of any Scouting activities, events or other youth program, it is purely for membership offers.

Were my personal details/my child’s details shared with other organisations in order for these cards to be produced?

Personal details as they appear on the card were the only details disclosed for production of the card. No other personal information has been shared for production of the card nor with any sponsor.

Are Scouts Victoria and/or other organisations able to track information about me/my child through use of the card?

While the new cards to include a barcode on the back which our partners may choose to connect with their point-of-sale system, the barcode is generic and the same for each member so they will only know that a Scout Member used their card and not who. The only identifying information is what is printed on the card. The card does not connect with any additional personal data.

Why were some people not entitled to a card?

Only uniformed members of Scouts Victoria were eligible to receive a card: all youth members, Leaders, Adult Helpers, Honorary Commissioners and Fellowship. Office bearers, Australian Scout subscribers, Victorian Scout Centre staff and Victorian Scout Foundation members were not eligible. This may be reviewed in the future.
