Help your Group lead the way...
...to save our waterways from micro plastics!
We are looking for Scout Groups to be part of a world leading environmental project, currently underway in Victoria. For only two to three hours participation every three months, your Venturers and Scouts will have the opportunity to take up lead roles in local environmental issues and also work towards their Scouting Awards.
Our youth are rapidly becoming aware of the devastating effects of plastics in our marine environments. Do they know that 80% of these plastics come from our local streets?
Scouts Victoria has received a Government grant to work with The Port Phillip Baykeeper to study the source of plastic litter entering our waterways that lead into our Bay. The Port Phillip Bay catchment is huge. From Mornington Peninsula up to the Yarra Ranges, over to Daylesford, and around Corio Bay.
Join other Scout Groups across the Port Phillip Bay catchments who have signed up to the Street2Bay Project and undertake to do micro plastic audits in your local area. The project has substantial resources, training and support available to assist Groups and their audit teams.
