Scouts Victoria participate in Pride March for the third year in a row!
Thank you to the 120 members of Scouts Victoria, the parents who marched with us and our guests from Girl Guides Victoria who marched despite the extreme heat today at Pride March. We received a hugely positive reaction as we walked down Fitzroy street and even a big shout out on Joy FM who live broadcast the event.
This event let us send an important message to the community - that Scouting is a movement for all young people regardless of their gender identity or orientation. This year we had every youth Section represented, from 47 different Groups, including many regional Groups and we were joined by two members from our State Leadership Team.
As we assembled, we also took the opportunity to scarf up two Councillors from Baw Baw Shire who visited the Scouts on the way to the LGA float. Thank you Cr Jessica O’Donnell and Cr. Michael Leaney for wearing your Scout scarves around Pride March.
