Mt Hotham

For down hill skiing and snowboarding all areas opened on the day by the alpine resort are Within Resort Boundaries. Leaders only need Certificate of Proficiency (Including Scouting Adventure) and must be in direct supervision of youth members at all time. Approval is required only by Group Leader. 

For cross country and snow shoeing the following areas and trails have been assessed as part of the resort boundary. Leaders only need Certificate of Proficiency (Including Scouting Adventure) and must be in direct supervision of youth members at all time. Approval is required only by Group Leader. 

Trails in resort boundary are Brabralung Trail from Hotham Village to Whiskey Flat.

Patrolled areas of resort are Big Spur Trail area, Possum Flat Trail area, Whisky Flat Trail area, The Brabralung Trail from Hotham Village to Dinner Plain and all open areas within the down hill resort. Leaders need Trained Participant (Cross Country Skiing Patrolled) or Trained Participant (Snow Shoe Day Tour).

Overnight trips at JB Plain Hut site will need Trained Participant only (ski/snowshoe) as the hut location is below the alpine snow line and ski guide level is not needed.

The Razorback, AAWT, Machinery Spur, Mount Tabletop and ski runs off the side of the Great Alpine Road are outside of patrolled areas and guide level is needed.

The area mark by green shading is in the resort boundary.
