Adventurous Journeys

Cycling is a great way to complete an Adventurous Journey for Peak Awards.  The Scout Cycling Team can assist with guidance and support for youth and supervising leaders in planning and participating in Adventurous Journeys.

Guidelines for Cycling Based Adventurous Journeys

  • There is no distance requirement for an Adventurous Journey, only Time.
    • Joeys – 3 Hours duration
    • Cubs – 4 Hours duration
    • Scouts - 3 days and 2 nights duration
    • Venturers - 4 days and 3 nights duration
    • Rovers - 4 days and 3 nights duration
  • Journeys should occur while working to Milestone 3
  • Journey planning should take into consideration the skill and OAS level of the youth planning and undertaking the journey.
  • Journeys for Scouts, Venturers should be remotely supervised by Leaders.
  • Journeys don’t need to be Epic – they should challenge the group but be achievable.
  • Activities undertaken in preparing for the Journey can and should count towards OAS-Cycling progressions.
