Outdoor Skill Recognition

In 2023, we want to continue to grow in the core skill areas but also to expand on the opportunities for both Scouts and adults to learn new Outdoor Skills and/or have their existing outdoor adventure skills recognised.

Many of our Outdoor Adventure Skills Stages, including some within Stages 1 to 3 require adults or Leaders with a  Safe Participant or Trained Participant qualification to: -

  • Mentor (where the Leader or Subject Matter Expert provides support including skills instruction, guidance on conducting activities and feedback on areas to work on) or
  • Verify Stage Progression (where the Leader or Subject Matter Expert verifies the youth member’s progression against the ‘I’ statements in a particular Stage).

To find out how you can have your outdoor activity skills recognised, review the Our Recognising Safe Participant & Trained Participant Skills flowchart.
