ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA JAMBOREE FOR 26th AUSTRALIAN JAMBOREE

APPLICATIONS CLOSE 30th June, 2024

1. Scouts

  • Must be a current registered youth member in the Scout section at the time of application and through until at least 17th January 2025.
  • Must, by 1st December 2024, have completed or working towards completing Scout Program Essentials Milestone 1, as well as completed Stage 3 in each of the Bushcraft, Bushwalking and Camping Outdoor Adventure Skills
  • Must have completed 10 nights camping in the outdoors with the Unit or Patrol, as a Scout; three of those nights must be consecutive. Camping with family or school is not considered within the ten nights.
  • Must have approval from the Unit Council and Group Leader
  • Must have consent from their parents/guardians
  • Must be considered by their parents/guardians and Unit Council to be of both sufficient maturity and good behaviour to successfully participate in the Jamboree.

2. Venturers

May apply as Junior Service Leaders

  • Must be a current registered Youth Member in the Venturer section at the time of application and through until at least 17th January 2025.
  • Must, by 1st December 2024, have completed or working towards completing Venturer Program Essentials Milestone 1, as well as completed Outdoor Adventure Skills Stage 3 in Bushcraft, Bushwalking, and Camping.
  • Be recommended by the Unit Council and Venturer Scout Leader as being of excellent character, a good role model to Scouts and has the skills and abilities to undertake the activity (or other tasks) nominated on the application form.
  • Must have consent from parents/guardian.

3. Rovers

  • Registered members at the time of application who are a member of a Rover Unit for the duration of the Jamboree, with registration valid through to 17th January 2025, will be accepted as Service Leaders.
  • Must be not older than 26 years, at 17th January 2025.
  • Be recommended by their Unit Council as being of excellent character, a good role model to younger Youth Members, and have the skills and abilities to undertake the activity (or other tasks) nominated on the application form.
  • Be ready to cope with the physical requirements of the event.

4. Line Leaders

  • Must hold a Certificate of Adult Membership as at 30th September 2024 and through until at least 17 January 2025.
  • Assistant Jamboree Scout Leaders must hold a Certificate of Proficiency as at 30th September 2024
  • Jamboree Scout Leaders must hold a Certificate of Advanced Adult Leadership (Wood Badge) as at 30th September 2024
  • Be ready to cope with the physical requirements of the event.
  • Must be recommended by their Group Leader/Team Leader and the State Scout Council.

5. Service Leaders and Other Adult Supporters (incl. Adult Helpers & ASF)

  • Must hold a Certificate of Adult Membership at 30th September 2024, with registration valid through to 17th January 2025.
  • Be ready to cope with the physical requirements of the event.
  • Must be recommended by their Group Leader/Team Leader

6. All Adults (including Rovers and Venturers over 18 years old)

  • Compulsory on demand modules Child Safe Scouting and WHS for Scouting are current.
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check Card valid through to 17th January 2025
  • Hold a current Blue Card (or Exemption) issued or linked as a volunteer with Scouts Queensland.
  • Must agree to the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct
  • Be approved by the Victorian Contingent Leader in line with their Branch policy.

7. All Applicants

  • All Victorian applicants must be part of the Victorian Contingent and pay the Contingent fee.
  • The applicant's Group Leader, Team Leader or responsible Commissioner must recommend the applicant as a suitable member of the Victorian Contingent.
  • Acceptance of the online application will be confirmation of compliance with the requirements in sections 1 to 6 above.
  • The Contingent reserves the right to refuse any application, in which case a full refund will be made.
  • Must agree to comply with all Government requirements, directions, orders and regulations relevant to attending AJ2025 including vaccinations which may be in place at the time of the event

COST AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE FOR PARTICIPANTS

  • Full payment must be made by 30th September 2024
  • Applications accepted by GL/Team Leader after the closing date must be approved by the Contingent Leader and will not be eligible for the Early Bird Fee.
  • The full Scout fee without Early Bird discount is $2795

NOTE, any application made after 30th January 2024 shall be required to make a first payment that includes all preceding scheduled monthly payments.

* Adult / Rover fee includes Merchandise including a Shirt and Badge. An optional Merchandise kit, including Roller Bag and Day Pack, is available to Adults for an additional fee of $85.00. This selection MUST be made on the application.

APPLICATION WITHDRAWAL POLICY

If after making an application, you are unable to attend the Jamboree, you must advise the Victorian Contingent in writing as soon as possible to claim a refund.

  • Claimed before 30th June 2024, the amount paid will be fully refunded.
  • Claimed after 1st July 2024 to 30th September 2024, the amount paid will be refunded less $250.
  • Claimed on or after 1st October 2024, no refund made except in exceptional circumstances, at the sole discretion of the Contingent Leader.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, any Government requirement placed upon the applicant to attend the Event, which is not met by the applicant, is considered to be a withdrawal for personal reasons, and no refund will be made. Reasonableness of any Government requirement is not a matter for either Scouts Victoria or Scouts Australia to consider.

FAILURE TO MAKE PAYMENT POLICY

Applications, which are not up to date with the payment schedule or alternative payment arrangements approved by the Victorian Contingent, then your application may be withdrawn and you will need to reapply. Refunds will be considered in accordance with the Application Withdrawal Policy.

INDEPENDENT TRAVEL

Independent travel by attendees is permitted. There is no rebate for independent travel. The Jamboree Scout Leader must travel with their respective Jamboree Unit.

INHERENT REQUIREMENTS

It is an inherent requirement for adults attending Jamboree that they be independently capable and willing to perform their assigned role which may be physically demanding and over an extended period. Adults unable to meet the inherent requirements are invited to discuss their situation with the Contingent Leader.

Adults attending the Event acknowledge that any work performed at the event is on a voluntary basis.

Adults attending the Event understand that they must comply with any reasonable direction by a member of the event management team, state leadership team, or any delegate of either body.

MEDICAL OBLIGATIONS

Should your medical condition or regular medication change from the information provided on the medical statement in any way, before departure for the Jamboree, it is your obligation to update your application details or advise the Victorian Contingent of such change at viccon@scoutsvictoria.com.au

EVENT CANCELLATION

In the unlikely event that Jamboree is cancelled, Scouts Australia (which term includes Scouts Victoria and the Event Organising Committee), after settling any costs, would distribute all remaining funds to applicants. Families may consider getting travel insurance.

EQUIPMENT INSURANCE

Jamboree will be acquiring insurance for Scout property including group equipment for the use of this equipment at the Jamboree, this insurance will not cover personnel property which will be the individual participant's own risk.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

You are responsible for any personal property that You bring to the Event.

Scouts Australia (which term includes Scouts Victoria thereof and the Event Organising Committee) assumes no responsibility for property left at, lost, or stolen at the Event, and no responsibility for property held by them pending collection by You, including lost property collected for distribution. You acknowledge that they will do their best in handling personal property, however, no responsibility is taken for any personal property.

Indemnity

In the event a member of the event needs to be sent home for medical or discipline reasons the applicant or the applicant's guardian agrees that Scouts Australia (which term includes Scouts Victoria and the Event Organising Committee) are exempt from any costs and these costs will be at the expense of the applicant or the applicant's guardian. No event fees will be refunded if this occurs.
