Victoria’s Environmental Revolution
Container Deposit Scheme Launches on November 1
Victoria is taking a significant step forward in its commitment to environmental sustainability with the launch of the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) on November 1. This scheme, also known as a 'cash-for-containers' program in other Australian States, is set to revolutionise the way Victorians dispose of their beverage containers, reducing litter, promoting recycling and contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.
The Scheme has three commercial network operators, Tomra, Visy and Return It. Scouts Victoria is excited to let you know that we have set up a new entity from which we are able to run our own depots. We will be running 2-3 container return depots and are working hard to get these set up in time for November 1. Scouts Victoria has worked with Return It and Vic Return to create a CDS donation point package that can be used at our Scout Halls.
The CDS Donation Points will include
- 240L donation bins in VIC CDS Scheme colours that will be easily identifiable as being a CDS receptacle.
- CDS Scheme signage that will assist donors to only leave eligible containers with your Scout Hall.
