Transition to the Next Section

A transition ceremony occurs when a Scout moves to the next Section. A transition ceremony will likely occur directly before the Welcome to Section ceremony, or on a different day and will normally involve some sort of small challenge that symbolises the path from one Section to the next.

Like an investiture ceremony, the transition ceremony marks an important milestone in the member's Scouting journey and should be special and memorable. As well as the ceremony itself, you might also like to hold a special farewell celebration for them.

Remember, a transition ceremony is not a sad moment in terms of loosing a member from your Unit but rather a celebration of the continuation of their Scouting journey.

A transition ceremony can also be an important part of Group life – you might like to hold your Group’s transition ceremonies together at a special Group event.
