Scholarship Opportunities
Scout Air Activities Victoria, through its membership of the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs of Australia, is able to offer is able to offer it members, and members of Scouts Victoria more broadly, the opportunity to apply for two scholarships being provided by Airservices Australia. This year's are valued at $7700 each including GST. There are two scholarship categories, one scholarship being available for each.
Recreational Pilot Licence or Private Pilot Licence
This scholarship may be awarded to either:
- an applicant who is training towards the issue of a Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) and has flown their first solo flight; or
- an applicant who holds an RPL, for training towards the issue of a Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
Commercial Pilot Licence or Flight Instructor Rating with Grade 3 Training Endorsement
This scholarship may be awarded to either:
- an applicant who holds a Private Pilot Licence (or has successfully completed the PPL phase if training within an integrated course), for training towards the issue of a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL); or
- an applicant who holds a CPL, for training towards the issue of a Flight Instructor Rating with a Grade 3 Training Endorsement.
The scholarships are managed by the RFACA Secretary and a selection panel comprising three members. Applications are received by the RFACA Secretary and then provided to the selection panel members.
Scholarship funds will be paid to the nominated member flight school for relevant training on receipt of invoice(s) from the flight school. Applications close on 18 June 2021. All funds must be expended by 1 July 2022.
Applications must be supported by a RFACA member flight school, in this Scout Air Activities Victoria, and we may support up to three applicants in each category.
