National Science Week 2021 - Unit Programs
Have your Unit Council included any STEM activities in the program for Term 3?
Why not join Scouts from all around Australia for our National Science Week program in August. We have some fantastic Science of Outdoors activities ready for you to run with your unit, using resources you can source easily and at a low cost from your local supermarket, hardware store and Scout hall. Instructions sheets and videos available now on the STEM program resources page.

We are also offering you the opportunity to select youth members from your Unit to attend a training session so that they can learn everything they need to know to be the Leads and Assists for these Science Week activities back in your own Unit.
Find a suitable session date, time and location from the list below and encourage your youth members to register soon so they don’t miss out. Cost for the training sessions is $5 per youth member. Leaders may register for free if they wish to attend to support youth members from their unit.

National Science Week 2021 - Online Webinar
For everyone across Australia! Scouts, Girl Guides and anyone else who is interested in learning more about the Science of Outdoors! The Scouts Australian National Science Week events for 2021 will culminate with a national finale webinar hosted in collaboration with Fizzics Education.
When: Saturday 28 August, 1-2pm
Where: Online for everyone!
This Online Zoom event is targeted at ages 6-14 years. Max 1000. A Zoom link and password will be sent out to registered participants. $5/participant (plus standard 50c booking fee), includes event badge.
Register for the Science of Outdoors national webinar no later than Friday 20 August (unless sold out prior).
Note to Scout Leaders. You can register as a Unit or as Individuals. If you do decide to register as a Unit, please let parents know, so they don’t double book.

This is only a small selection of the range different of programs available for all age groups.
Food Chemistry - Online Workshop
SciScouts ACT, Fizzics Education and Virtual Excursions Australia are celebrating Children's Week (Week 4, Term 4) with some online Food Chemistry workshops and interstate Scouts and Guides are welcome to join in! These interactive online workshops are targeted at ages 5-15 years. Join in from home, or if we’re back face to face, join in together from your hall.

Session Times (4 repeats)
- Monday 25 October, 6.30-7.30pm AEST, or
- Monday 25 October, 8.00-9.00pm AEST, or
- Wednesday 27 October, 6.30-7.30pm AEST, or

Cost
$5 per participant (plus 50c booking fee), includes a SciScouts: Chemistry event badge.
Special Instructions
- A materials list will be sent at registration.
- A Zoom link and password will be sent out to registered participants, at least 3 days prior to each workshop. These are live workshops and will not be recorded.
- Individuals can register, however if Leaders decide to register as a Unit, please let parents know, so they don’t double book.
- Please note only one badge will be sent per registration.

Chemistry Holiday Programs
Are you a Joey or Cub who enjoys Science and is looking for something fun to do during the April school holidays? Are your interested in doing a STEM & Innovation SIA projects but are not sure where to start? Then our Chemistry Holiday Programs are perfect for you! There will be an action-packed programs covering explosion and implosions, chemistry and food, acids and bases, and heaps more chemical reactions.
Cub Chemistry Camp
Two full days of Chemistry fun especially for Cub Scouts. You are welcome to come by yourself or recruit your Cub friends and leaders to come along too.
- Date and Time: 9am Monday 11th April - 4pm Tuesday 12th April (early drop off and late pick up options available)
- Location: Clifford Park Activity Centre, 5-7 Clifford Drive, Wonga Park
- Cost: $130 - includes all meals, indoor accommodation and heaps of activities
This camp is only for Cub Scouts but Joey Scouts are welcome at our Day Programs.

Joey and Cub Chemistry Day Programs
A one-day program with for Joey Scouts and Cub Scouts including lots of our favourite activities from the Cub Chem Camp program (so don't sign up for the day program and the camp). Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea provided. Early drop off and late pick up options available.

ScoutHack
We’re back online - WebDev 1.0 Camp is running again!
Are you interested in learning how to build a website? From absolute beginners through to proficient techies, Scouts and Venturers are invited to attend ScoutHack: WebDev 1.0 Camp. A course that takes participants through the basics of websites, including development using HTML, CSS, a little JavaScript and an introduction to Python.
We even have a whole session dedicated to gaming, so be prepared for a new digital adventure! Check out our website for more details and to register.Past attendees are most welcome to come and expand their skills and learn new ways of achieving great outcomes as we've expanded the program from what our previous course offered.The course will be located at Camp Warringal and for $150 provides a two day immersive web development experience, running from May 6 - 8.Let us know if you’d like to participate, but don’t have sufficient financial support to go ahead and we’ll see what we can do.Places are still available but are strictly limited, so register ASAP!
