Award Scheme Days for Individual Cubs and Scouts

The Scout Air Activity Award Scheme Days are an opportunity for individuals to achieve their Scout Air Activities Target Badge or Cub Level 2 Flight Badge without having to come to a flying day as part of their Troop or Pack. It is not a part of our regular weekend flying day program. Pack, Troop, District or Region Badge Days covering one or two Badge Levels can requested as a Flying Day , for further information please view the Flying Days page.

The day is designed for each Scout to achieve their Pioneer, Explorer and Adventurer level Scout Air Activities Target Badge or Cub Level 2 Flight Badge. Participants also have a short flight in a Piper Warrior light aircraft. This is accomplished by pre-activity work for Explorer levels, Adventurer level participants are encourage to review and identify any material where they may need additional assistance. Where Scouts are unable to complete all requirements of the respective Target Badge, the Scout will need to complete outstanding tasks with their Scout Leader.

Scouts can sign up to the activity individually and do not need to have a Scout Leader present, as SAAV leaders will be present throughout the entire day. However, Leaders are welcome to attend with their Scouts if they wish.

As with all SAAV flying days, each pilot is the holder of a current Commercial Pilots License issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) nd flights are conducted as a charter operation under stringent CASA guidelines, rules and legislation. Each pilot also is an adult leader and/or the holder of a Working With Children card.
