Camping is one of Scouting’s best known and most loved traditions. Long before social media, Scouts would look forward to camping adventures to make real memories with their mates.
Modern Scouts still treasure these opportunities, with many well-equipped campsites and activities to enjoy.
Plus, when they get back to the real world, they can swamp their cyber-friends with selfies and ‘There I was…’ stories.
Camping
The concept of camping begins with our youngest members. Joeys might learn basic activities in their hall or outside during day trips. Cubs get to have real overnight camps in the bush.
We have more than 50 campsites ranging from basic, down-to-earth spots for a simple outdoor experience. Others have advanced facilities and equipment to challenge all ages.
You don’t have to be a Scout to enjoy these sites, but we do make great use of them with a packed Calendar of Scouting Campsite Programs.

Our best known camps and activities
Gilwell Park
Gilwell Park has more than 50 buildings on 160 hectares, and can handle groups of 200 or more. It has a camping capacity of more than 4000! Campers can enjoy a climbing and abseiling tower, high ropes courses, nature trails and an initiative course among the many programs on offer.
The park has many heritage assets and a special Heritage Team that looks after conservation and repair.
There’s also a Gilwell Reunion for Leaders and former Leaders to let their hair down, without having to worry about the kids.

Bay Park
Bay Park is 35 hectares of bushland near Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula. Scouts can sleep in lodges, cottages or converted railway carriages.
On site activities include archery, a flying fox, a BMX track, a bush golf course and a huge range of games. There is a dam for water activities and a stage to entertain the masses.

Clifford Park
East of Melbourne, at Wonga Park, there’s camping for 400 or more people at the Clifford Park Activity Centre. It’s a 20 hectare bush site surrounded on three sides by the Warrandyte State Park. There’s a log cabin for indoor activities, and plenty of adventures outdoors as well, like abseiling, bouldering, compass courses and a billy cart hill.
